Second Thoughts on Iraq by Michael Moriarty

My friends in the Michael Moriarty campaign for President, because they sincerely agree with the majority of Americans about the United States’ presence in Iraq, had a pre-2004 election editorial posted to www.mmuuuhp.com. Well, I made a mistake then. I apologize. I said: "Get out of Iraq, George!" Most people don’t want me to admit that this position was a mistake, because they want the U.S. out of Iraq… We’re losing the war, right?

Everyone said the same thing about Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, before the North’s victory at Gettysburg. God willing, George W. Bush will announce the capture of Osama bin Laden and say a few inspiring words about why Islamic theocrats and fanatics must never hold secular power of any kind again. Tell the world that the Koran is indeed a Mein Kampf from the Dark Ages and… well, America just has to finish the job in a war Osama started.

Bush won’t do that, though. Why? Because the Bush family is very tight with the Saudi royal family. Patriarch and former U.S. president George H. W. Bush built quite an oil and war-making empire. The Bushes have a card, given only to Arab oil magnates in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, which reads: "Have Pentagon, Will Travel!" The breathtaking bargain they gave their Islamic friends, the low rental price for the greatest war machine in history, is the most blatant act of political cronyism ever recorded in the Free World. Don’t worry. American citizens will pay dearly for all the profits the Bushes made from the deal.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt didn’t have a Bush-like "friendship" problem with Emperor Hirohito’s Japan. FDR just knew, long before Pearl Harbor, that racial supremacism in the 1930s wasn’t relegated to Nazi Germany. Yes, FDR anticipated Pearl Harbor, as the Bushes knew that something like 9/11 would happen. The problem is that the Bushes aren’t the least bit worried about Islamic racial supremacism. They just want to own a piece of all the Arab oil. The Bushes are the equivalent of Bavarian Motor Works and I.G. Farben – the companies that quickly cut a deal with Hitler and the German National Socialists. It’s business as usual, right?

George W. Bush wasn’t going to make the same mistake Lyndon Johnson made in Vietnam. Bush wasn’t venturing into Iraq without declaring war. To do that, he needed the "probable cause" of weapons of mass destruction, one far more publicly "self-evident" than "mysterious goings-on" in the Gulf of Tonkin. And you couldn’t get a better ringside seat than morning television, could you?

The realists in Congress know we have a long battle ahead of us. Islam is not the tiny island of Japan. It’s a power-hungry Diaspora that stretches from Gibraltar to Siberia and the Pacific Ocean. It is now invading Europe and North America as fast as Judeo-Christian naiveté will allow.

Bush is doing the right thing for the wrong reason – for his family’s personal gain. He hasn’t a clue as to the depth of evil of his cohorts, the Saudis; and not even Syriana will dissuade him.

Regardless of the Bush family’s avarice, we can’t get out of Iraq now. General Douglas MacArthur was driven out of the Philippines but did say he’d return – and he did. Leaving Iraq would be like General William Sherman leaving Georgia after the burning of Atlanta. No way. We’re dealing with racial supremacists, America!

What will America say to that?

"It’s not our problem, Michael!"

"Osama is still at large."

"George will find him and that’ll be that! Osama’s not in Iraq. He’s probably in Afghanistan!"

"So, if we move all our troops to Afghanistan, his Al Qaeda will ship him to Iraq!"

"George won’t let that happen."

"Sure he will. It’ll give him the pleasure of saying, ‘I told you so!’"

"There’s no winning with you, Moriarty!"

"Yes, there is. You just… and understandably… don’t want to fight a world war with the last, oldest and most insanely committed racial supremacists ever to threaten our way of life. It’s got to be done… and apparently I’m the only one who can do it."

"Why you?"

"Only I can do it for the right reasons. There are no lifelong political and power cronies I have to pay off. A simple, eternal commitment to the Declaration of Independence and human equality will do it. Just watch me!"
