A METAPHYSICAL KATRINA

By Michael Moriarty

Joe Klein of Time’s Online Edition has some interesting observations about Katrina and New Orleans in his September 4/05 column entitled Listen to What Katrina Is Saying. After contrasting the Columbia Christians for Life’s vision of that ongoing tragedy and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s environmental take on the subject, Klein concludes his very "sane" estimate of the nightmare with a shot at Margaret Thatcher and her now "inflammatory" statement that "there is no Society; there are only individuals and their families."

Whether Klein is an atheist, agnostic or a Clintonian careerist is irrelevant. This journalist’s assault on the credibility of former Prime Minister Thatcher and her sensible opinion of "Society" is most revealing.

Socialism has only one God: Society. Klein’s defense of "Society" is the immediate, knee-jerk response of a Socialist. Knowing that, I can now guide you through my own version of the "meaning of Katrina."

With the rather poetic findings of the Columbia Christians for Life now in my memory bank, I tend to think that my earlier estimate of Katrina as Mother Nature’s instrument of vengeance on Roe v. Wade is correct. With New Orleans as the United States’ undisputed Mecca of Promiscuity, it is safe to say that the level of pregnancy arising from the "Party Town" must set a record of some sort. Therefore, the five abortion clinics which Katrina razed must have been doing a landslide business.

I love a party as much as the next fellow. However, the aftermath of every "party" can be fairly messy – pizza cartons, empty beer cans and rum bottles, and pill containers (Viagra or otherwise), considered the sine qua non of a New Orleans "party." Yet the human beings conceived during these parties are not detritus. They’re not the egg yolk that Roe v. Wade’s "trimester" divisions of gestation have made them into.

The God Society – the one Klein obviously worships – would have us treat the newly conceived as just that: leftover, soon-to-be dissected egg rolls. Social workers in England, even now, are acting under a "secret law" which licenses them to take pregnant teenage girls immediately to an abortion clinic and to do so without ever consulting the girls’ parents.

In New Orleans, a Rainbow Coalition of Social Workers takes the local "party girls" to "Society’s" abortionists. Social-working "maids," so to speak, clean up the mess.

With the new French abortion pill, things became a lot easier. With that magic, selective cyanide version of Zyklon B, the abortion rate in the United States has climbed to 1.5 million a year; and that’s the lowest per capita abortion rate in the world… so far.

Therefore, the aerial photos of Katrina, and the interpretation of these photos by Columbia Christians for Life – it is said the shape of Katrina resembled that of a fetus – is much closer to the laws of the God I know than it is to Klein’s God of Society or Robert Kennedy, Jr.’s belief that it’s the revenge of Mother Nature for America’s hefty contribution to global warming.

Mother Nature to the Judeo-Christians is as anthropomorphic a power as Jehovah was. Right now she resembles a cross between Anna Magnani at her most vengeful and Igor Stravinsky in drag. The sound of Katrina’s arrival alone must have shaken The Big Easy with more terror than The Rite of Spring horrified audiences in Paris when it premiered in 1914.

As I have pointed out, Roe v. Wade was not the triumph of the Baby-Killing Barbarellas of Planned Parenthood, but the greatest victory Red China has achieved so far: instituting a Maoist Population Control Policy, the Ongoing Final Solution to the "Population Problem" inside America, and doing so with such permanence that the decision cannot even be appealed within the star chamber of the Supreme Court. All such efforts have been summarily tossed out on "technicalities."

Since the assassination of a Catholic President, John F. Kennedy, Communism has virtually flooded into the United States through its favorite portals: the Ivy League and Liberation Theology’s purveyors of Socialism, such as Georgetown University and the increasingly politicized alumni of those halls of "higher learning."

Most Catholics are rabidly anti-abortion. That stance is one of the last vestiges of my own Catholicism. I’m a Libertarian Conservative, as even conservative firebrand (and former Arizona senator and Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwater) began to evolve in his later years. (Goldwater is the man who famously said: "Extremism in the pursuit of liberty is no vice, and moderation in the pursuit of justice, is no virtue.")

Peering at the still-remaining floodwaters of New Orleans, I can only surmise that Katrina came to avenge the Unborn Dead, that drowning New Orleans is the perfect metaphor for America suffocating under Communism. What took a day for Katrina to accomplish has taken a span of 42 years and nine months, a fin de millénaire we look back over in order to remember November 22, 1963, and the day our last Catholic President was assassinated.

The worst news is that the Katrina of Communism hasn’t stopped her onslaught. The coming six years and the ravages of America’s next Presidential Administration will carry such unrelenting repression of individual freedom that Americans will resemble the stunned disaster victims of New Orleans. Rather than deer caught in headlights, we who live outside the U.S. will view an America drowning under the floodwaters of Socialism and staring red-faced out of the fist of a Communist State.
